The Pavilion of Green Hills in Fahui Temple Su Shi Mount Wu assumes one form at dawn, Another form at dusk; Endless variety it has, Shifting to feast your eyes. Here a recluse has built a red pavilion, With nothing round it in the solitude But mounds a thousand paces wide As screens on east and west. Spring comes but brings no home-coming for me; Autumn is sad, they say; but spring is sadder. On the lake I recall the Brocade-washing Stream; And these green hills remind me of Emei. How long will these painted railings last? He is growing old, the man leaning over the railings. Success for a space, then decline—the pity of it! Soon weeds and brambles will cover this pavilion, And travelers in search of my old haunts Will simply find Mount Wu spread out before them. |
