At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, HM King Philippe of the Kingdom of Belgium will pay a state visit to China from June 20 to 27.

问：外交部今天发布了关于中方南沙岛礁建设进程的消息,提到将于近期完成陆域吹填工程。你能否介绍具体指哪个岛的工程即将完成？

Q: According to the statement released by the Foreign Ministry today about China’s construction on the Nansha islands and reefs, the land reclamation project will be completed in the upcoming days. Which islands specifically are you referring to?

答：今天早晨发布的中方将按计划完成南沙部分岛礁陆域吹填工程消息，我们已经说得比较详细了。工程的进展情况在不同岛礁上可能不同，至于何时完工，结束时间要根据工程建设进度和各方面条件确定。

A: In the statement released this morning, we have gone into details about the land reclamation project on some Nansha islands and reefs that the Chinese side is going to complete in accordance with the plan. The progress of projects on different islands and reefs may vary. As for when the completion is due, it depends on the progress of construction and various conditions.

问：日本首相安倍15日接受媒体采访时称，不会重蹈战争覆辙，新安保法不会造成中日军事冲突，并表示将不断努力改善中日关系。中方对此有何评价？

Q: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said in an interview on June 15 that Japan would not walk the same path of war, and that Japan and China would not engage in military conflict under new security bills. He also pledged to improve China-Japan relations through constant efforts. What is China’s comment on that?

答：今年是一个很重要的年份，是中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利70周年。由于历史原因，日本在历史问题上的言行和军事安全政策动向，理所当然地值得中国及日本周边的亚洲邻国高度关注。实际上，日本国内对此也高度关注。我们注意到日本领导人最近的一系列表态。我们希望，日方能够采取切实行动，在历史问题上采取正确的态度，以实际行动取信于包括中国在内的亚洲邻国。

A: This year is a significant year that marks the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Given the historical reason, it is perfectly natural that Japan’s Asian neighbors including China are highly concerned about Japan’s remarks on history issues and changes to its military and security policies. Actually, people in Japan also keep a close eye on that. We have taken note of the recent remarks by the Japanese leader. We hope that concrete actions and a correct attitude toward history will be taken by the Japanese side to win the trust of its Asian neighbors including China.

问：据报道，香港政改方案投票前夕，有人因涉嫌制造爆炸物被香港警方逮捕。中方对此有何评论？

Q: Some people have been arrested by the Hong Kong police on suspicion of making explosives ahead of the vote on the electoral reform package. What is China’s comment on that?

答：香港特区的事是中国的内部事务。即将举行的香港特区的政改投票和表决是一个非常重要的事件。我们希望它能够顺利进行，这有利于香港的长远发展。有些人想通过一系列的破坏活动干扰这个进程，这不符合香港特区公众的利益。

A: The affairs of the Hong Kong SAR belong to China’s domestic affairs. The upcoming vote on the plan concerning the constitutional development of Hong Kong is an important event. We hope that the voting could go smoothly, as it is conducive to the long-term development of Hong Kong. Some people want to disrupt this process with acts of sabotage. It goes against the interests of the Hong Kong public.

问：伊拉克外长正在中国访问。请介绍双方会谈的有关情况。

Q: The Iraqi Foreign Minister is visiting China. Any readout on the talks between the Chinese and Iraqi sides?

答：应外交部长王毅的邀请，伊拉克外交部长贾法里于6月13日至17日对中国进行正式访问。访问期间，杨洁篪国务委员将会见贾法里外长，王毅外长与他举行会谈。

A: At the invitation of Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari of the Republic of Iraq is on an official visit to China from June 13 to 17. During the visit, State Councilor Yang Jiechi will meet with Foreign Minister Jaafari, and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will hold talks with him.

中国和伊拉克两国有传统的友好关系。特别是近年来，两国各领域务实合作发展迅速。我们希望通过这次访问，同伊方就进一步深化中伊关系及加强两国在各领域合作充分交换意见，并就共同关心的地区和国际问题交换意见。

The friendly relationship between China and Iraq runs deep. Pragmatic cooperation between the two countries in various fields has been developing fast, especially over recent years. We hope that the two sides will have a thorough exchange of views on deepening China-Iraq relations and enhancing bilateral cooperation in different fields and discuss international and regional issues of common interest during this visit.
