非常高兴来到SOS马米罗迪儿童村。感谢马盼嘉主席先生友好的话语和小朋友们热情洋溢的歌舞，让我们在冬日里仿佛沐浴了夏日温暖的阳光。看到孩子们在这里快乐生活，健康成长，我感到非常欣慰。前总统曼德拉说，孩子是最宝贵的财富。他道出了所有人的心声。让我们借此机会，衷心祝愿曼德拉先生早日康复！
I am very happy to come to SOS
Mamelodi Children’s Village. I would like to thank Director Maphanga for your
very warm remarks. And I want to say “thank you” to boys and girls who welcomed
me with your cheerful drums when we arrived. Your performance is like the
summer sunshine that warms us in the chilly winter. It’s so comforting to see
that children here are living a happy and healthy life. I wish to quote former
President Mandela by saying that “Children are our most precious treasure”, and
I believe that Madiba has spoken for all of us! I wish to take this opportunity
to wish Madiba a speedy recovery!
大家知道，60多年前，赫尔曼•格迈纳尔先生创建了第一个SOS儿童村。当时，除了一个热切的梦想，他口袋里只有600先令。60年后的今天，全世界132个国家，包括南非和中国，建有438个儿童村，346个青少年中心，6万多名儿童和青少年找到了温暖的家，快乐地生活和成长。这个振奋人心的事实说明，如果坚持梦想并不断为之努力，就一定会得到成功；如果一个梦想被众人分享和传递，我们将改变世界。请允许我向长期关心儿童福利等公益事业的恩格玛•祖马夫人致以崇高的敬意！向长期致力于SOS儿童村事业的人们致以崇高的敬意！谢谢你们改变了许许多多孩子的命运和人生，你们的努力使我们生活的这个世界变得更加温暖、美好。
Today, I’d like to begin with a
story that most of you must have been very familiar with. Some 60 years ago,
Mr. Hermann Gmeiner built the very first Children’s Village in Austria. At that
time, he was so poor with only 600 shillings in his pocket, but so rich with a
passionate dream. 60 years later, we now have 438 Children’s Villages and 346
Youth Centers in 132 countries around the world, including South Africa and
China. More than 60,000 children and teenagers have been provided with a loving
home where they live and grow up. This is indeed an inspiring story, telling us
that if you hold on to your dream and work really hard, you will finally turn
your dream into reality; and if a dream is shared by many, it can eventually
change the world. Please allow me to pay my highest respects to Madame Zuma for
your long-time commitment to charity work and children’s wellbeing; and to all
of those who work so hard for the endeavors of the SOS Children’s Villages!
Thank you for changing the lives of so many children and thank you for making
this world a better place!
从儿童村，我不禁联想到我们生活的这个世界。今天的世界已经越来越成为一个大村庄，我们叫它“地球村”。南非在这个村子的南边，中国在这个村子的北边。同作为地球村的“村民”，我们面临许多共同的机遇与挑战，加强联系与合作成为我们共同的选择。中国和南非建交15年以来，在双方的共同努力下，两国关系越来越好，两国人民之间的友谊越来越深厚。今天，我就是代表中国的13亿“村民”，包括3亿多“小村民”，来看望大家，给大家带来中国人民和小朋友们的良好问候，也带来中国的太阳能热水器，希望能为儿童村创造更为舒适、环保的生活环境，为实现祖马总统提出的“百万台太阳能热水器”计划添砖加瓦。中国的“村民们”愿和南非的“村民们”一道把我们这个“地球村”建设得越来越美好。
Today, we, from the Chinese
Embassy, come to visit you in the Children’s Village. But from a larger
perspective, we are all together living in one “village” that we name it the “global
village”. China is in the northern part of the village, and South Africa in the
southern part. We are both “global villagers”; we share many common
opportunities and challenges, and we choose to face them by enhancing
communication and cooperation. China and South Africa have had 15 years of diplomatic
relationship, a period that has witnessed better bilateral relationship and
closer friendship. Today, I come to visit you as a representative of 1.3
billion Chinese people, including 300 million children and teenagers in China,
and bring you their best wishes. I also bring you solar geysers from China, to
help make your life in the village more comfortable and more
environmental-friendly, and to contribute to President Zuma’s plan of
installing a million solar heaters by the end of the 2014 financial year. As we
share the same global village, the Chinese people hope to work together with
our South African friends to make our Village a better place.
女士们，先生们，孩子们， Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls,
孩子是祖国的花朵，国家的未来。今天和我们在一起的这些可爱的孩子们以及远在中国的孩子们，你们都有着自己的梦想，你们身上也寄托着我们的希望与梦想。当前，中国人民正在为实现“两个一百年”目标和中国梦而不懈奋斗，南非人民也在为国家发展和生活幸福而努力。无论是中国梦还是南非梦，无论是孩子们的梦想还是我们的梦想，归根到底都是为了这个世界更美好、生活更幸福。我衷心祝愿，孩子们的美梦能够成真，中国和南非在追求美好梦想的道路上携手并肩，合作并进，共同创造缤纷多彩的明天！
Children are the “flowers of a
country” and the future of a nation. Whether they are here with us today or
they are thousands of miles away in China, they all have dreams; what’s more,
they are also carrying the hopes and dreams of the generation of you and me.
The Chinese people, as a nation, have a “Chinese Dream”, and we are working
diligently to realize it. We have two specific objectives, that is, by 2021,
the centenary of the Communist Party of China, we should have met the target of
“constructing a moderately prosperous society.” And by 2049, the centenary of the
founding of the People’s Republic of China, we will have developed into a
modernized socialist country that is rich, strong, democratic, culturally
advanced and harmonious. That is our Chinese Dream. And I know South African
people are also working hard for your national development, and for a happier
life. All the dreams, whether the Chinese Dream or the South African Dream, the
children’s dream or grown-ups’ dream, are all for a better world and a happier
life. I sincerely wish that all our children’s dreams can come true, and I wish
China and South Africa can join hands in the pursuit of our national dreams and
work together to create a brighter and more colorful future.
最后，感谢马米罗迪儿童村和施工单位的辛勤劳动，使项目以最快速度竣工，让孩子们能在寒冷的冬天用上太阳能热水器。今后我们愿一如既往为孩子们提供力所能及的帮助。祝愿孩子们在儿童村幸福、快乐、健康！
To end, I wish to express my
gratitude to the management team of Mamelodi and to Apollo Solar. Without your
efforts, we were not able to complete the installation at the quickest possible
pace and thus provide our children with hot water in this cold winter. The
Chinese Embassy will, as always, offer our assistance to the children in the
future. Let’s wish all the boys and girls a happier and healthier life in a
