今天我们欢聚一堂，共同庆祝中华人民共和国成立64周年，我谨对各位的到来表示衷心感谢，对南加州，以及亚利桑那、新墨西哥、夏威夷、关岛和塞班等我馆领区各地的旅美侨胞致以节日问候！

 

We gather here today to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. I would like to express my warm welcome to all friends present today. I want to extend my cordial greetings in particular, to Chinese compatriots of our consular district.

 

　　中华人民共和国成立64年来，特别是改革开放30多年来，中国各族人民同心同德，艰苦奋斗，取得举世瞩目的发展成就，中国发生了翻天覆地的变化。

 

Over the past 64 years, the 30 odd years of reform and opening up in particular, with concerted efforts of all ethnic groups, China has achieved remarkable accomplishments. The greatest ever transformation is unfolding in China.

 

　　中国的变化体现在经济发展上，中国现已成为世界第二大经济体和第二大贸易国。

 

This transformation is underlined by her economic development. China now ranks number two in economy and is the world’s second largest trading nation.

 

　　中国的变化体现在全面进步上，这包括经济建设、政治建设、文化建设和社会建设。

 

This transformation is underscored by her all-round progress. Besides economic growth, China has made across the broad progress in cultural, political and social fields.

 

　　中国的变化体现在与世界更紧密，中国以开放姿态走向世界，在学习、交流和相互借鉴中发展自己，贡献世界。

 

This transformation is reflected in her increasingly close interaction with the international community. China is committed to the peaceful development and an open-up strategy for win-win progress.

 

　　今天的中国，正在坚定走一条发展新路，实现国家富强、民族振兴、人民幸福的中国梦。在这一进程中，中国愿同美国及世界各国人民携手推动实现持久和平、共同繁荣的世界梦。

 

Today, China is marching on a new road of development, a road leading to the realization of the Chinese Dream, a dream of national prosperity, rejuvenation and people’s well-being. China is ready to join hands with friends from the United States and the countries across the world to strive for a world dream, a dream of lasting peace and common prosperity.

Ladies and gentleman,

 

　　继2012年2月访问南加州后，习近平主席今年6月再次到访，并在安纳伯格庄园同奥巴马总统进行了历史性会晤。两国元首就共同构建相互尊重、互利共赢的中美新型大国关系达成重要共识，为中美关系的未来发展指明了方向。我们要按照两国元首共识的精神加倍努力，大力推进中国同领区各州在经贸、文化教育、人文等领域务实合作，把众多合作潜力全面转化为互利共赢的实际成果。

 

Following the visit to Southern California in February 2012, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited here again this June, having historic meetings with President Obama at the Sunnylands. Our two Presidents reached important consensus on jointly building a new model of major-country relations between China and the United States featuring mutual respect and win-win cooperation.

 

The fact that Chinese President visited Southern California twice in a little over one year’s time, is a testimony to the importance China attaches to its cooperation with Los Angeles and California. We should work vigorously to scale up our cooperation in a wide range of areas like economy, trade, energy, the environment, culture and people-to-people exchanges, so as to bring the many great potential into tangible benefits, and win over broader support for our cooperation.

Ladies and gentleman,

 

　　中美关系的稳定发展得益于海内外中华儿女和美国各界友好人士的关心支持。你们多年来为促进中国经济建设和当地经济发展、为增进中美了解与友谊做了有益的工作。在此，我谨代表总领馆向大家表示衷心的感谢！

 

Without the support from the vast number of Chinese compatriots in the US, and the American friends from all walks of life, it is impossible to enjoy such a stable development of China-US relationship. Your support brings our two peoples and cooperations closer together. Your work forms a powerful complement to our diplomatic efforts at the government-to-government level. Please allow me, on behalf of the Chinese Consulate General in LA, to thank you for the vital and continuing role you are playing in the regards.
