The Ukrainian authorities
informed me today of their request for support from the IMF. We are ready to
respond and, in the coming days, will send an IMF fact-finding team to Kiev to
undertake a preliminary dialogue with the authorities. This will enable the IMF
to make its usual technical, independent assessment of the economic situation
in Ukraine and, at the same time, begin to discuss with the authorities the
policy reforms that could form the basis of a Fund-supported program. We are
also discussing with all our international partners--bilateral and multilateral—how
best to help Ukraine at this critical moment in its history. In that regard, we
are encouraged by the many statements of support that have been expressed.
乌克兰当局今天通知我，乌克兰将申请基金组织的支持。我们已做好回应准备，在今后几天内将向基辅派出事实调查小组，并与当局开展初步对话。这将使基金组织能够对乌克兰的经济形势做出常规的、独立的技术性评估，同时也可以着手与当局讨论所需的政策改革，以此为基金组织支持规划奠定基础。我们还将与所有双边和多边国际伙伴商讨，如何更好地在乌克兰的这一重要历史关头向其提供帮助。为此，我们对于各方作出的给予支持的表态深感鼓舞。 |
