David
Cameron’s Message for England Women’s Football Team
9 June 2015
On behalf of the whole country, I
want to wish the England women’s football team and their coach Mark Sampson the
best of luck at the World Cup in Canada.
In recent days, with FIFA, we
have seen the very worst of football, but with you, we will see the very best.
From the FA Women’s Super League
to the record-breaking crowds at Wembley for that historic game against Germany
last November, women’s football is growing in our country.
And you are the role models for
so many women and girls who are taking up football in schools and clubs right
across our country.
I’m delighted that for the first
time, every match of this World Cup will be shown live on the BBC, and I hope
we will see more and more people tuning in to follow your progress and support
the women’s game.
I know you have some tough
matches ahead, but with ten wins out of ten in qualifying, I hope you will go
there with every confidence.
The whole country is right behind
you and we’re wishing you every success. |
