Tonight at sundown, Jewish communities in Canada and around the world will celebrate the start of Passover. This is a time to recognize the power of hope, and the strength and perseverance of the Jewish people.文章源自英文巴士-https://www.en84.com/9103.html

Passover commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. It is also a reminder that we must all stand up against antisemitism, hatred, and discrimination.文章源自英文巴士-https://www.en84.com/9103.html

Now, I know this night is definitely not going to be like all other nights. Your gatherings around the Seder table to read the Haggadah might be smaller. You might be singing the four questions or hiding the afikomen via videoconference. But I know the spirit of celebration, perseverance, love and renewal will be as strong as ever.文章源自英文巴士-https://www.en84.com/9103.html
As we all deal with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s important that we continue to listen to our health professionals. That means washing your hands and staying at home. And if you have to go out for critical things like groceries or medications, try to make that trip only once a week, and remember to keep a safe distance of at least 2 metres from others.
I know this will be hard, especially in times of celebration, but we need to continue this practice to protect our families and loved ones.
I really wish I could be at a Seder again this year, but please know that my thoughts are with you.
We may be practising physical distancing, but that must not prevent us from celebrating Passover, as well as the many important contributions that Jewish Canadians make to our country, every single day.
On behalf of our family, Sophie and I wish you health, joy, and happiness. Stay safe.
Chag Pesach Sameach!
